Karmatang beach is one of the ideal romantic beach destinations in Andaman and Nicobar islands. Promising privacy to the people who visit the Karmatang beach, the latter offers a kilometer long slope of sandy beaches, strewn with shells and crabs across the beach. The beach is known as a popular nesting ground for turtles and the place is being developed as a tourist complex as well. Located in Mayabunder in the northern part of Middle Andaman, the Karmatang beach is located merely 13 kilometers away from Mayabunder, 240 kilometers by road and 136 kilometers by boat from Port Blair, the capital city of Andaman and Nicobar islands and the entry point to the islands, either by air or through a shipping cruise.
Karmatang beach is known not only as turtle nesting ground. It also offers the popular beach activities such as boating, swimming and scuba diving. Snorkeling is a must do activity here. While the beach is a considerable distance away, the beach offers number of facilities. While there is the Swiftlet Nest Guest House, run by the Directorate of Tourism, Mayabunder offers some good eating places and sceneries. Known for its unique culture and heritage, the latter offers some other tourist spots as well.
While the best season for viewing the turtle nests are from the months of December to February, the peak season of visiting Karmatang beach is from December to early April. One can even visit the nearby islands of Diglipur islands. There is much to do in Karmatang beach. It is the ideal place for you, in case looking for solitude by the sea. The journey is long, but definitely worth it!
